The Nomadic Arts Festival will debut on December 6, 2024, at the Oshwal Center in Westlands, Nairobi, bringing together artists from Northern Kenya and Nairobi’s contemporary music scene for a vibrant celebration of culture and collaboration. The event will feature live performances blending traditional sounds with modern music, led by Turkana Sessions and the Turkana Sessions Orchestra alongside a curated lineup of diverse talent. Originating from Content House Kenya’s long-term work in the region, including the Turkana-based Turkana Sessions project and the broader Turkana Artists Xchange initiative, the festival builds on over a decade of artistic exchange and cultural documentation. Beyond music, Nomadic Arts Festival will include a small marketplace supporting local artisans and businesses, promoting economic opportunities through art. Envisioned as an annual event, the festival aims to preserve Northern Kenya’s artistic heritage while fostering cross-cultural connections and wider audience engagement.
