Nomadic Arts Festival: Celebrating tradition through sound fusion

The inaugural Nomadic Arts Festival bridged the gap between rural traditions and urban beats with the voices of Turkana and some popular Nairobi artists. Brought together through the collaborative efforts of Jackie Lebo, the director of the festival, and Eddie Grey, the music director. Their work together began years prior while working on a documentary about oil exploration in Turkana. A documentary which led to the creation of the Turkana Sessions, a project that trained local artists in storytelling through music. As a result, the festival was more than just a celebration, it was an invitation to preserve and evolve culture.
