“Flyest Wedding in Africa” Artists Xchange project brings to life the beauty of Turkana community - February 12th, 2019

An Artists Xchange project presents Turkana as a place of striking beauty through the eyes of Picha Marangi, a photographer and stylist from Kibera, and Elizabeth Korikel, a translator, beading artist, and singer. Their collaboration, The Flyest Wedding in Africa, is a fictional sartorial narrative in which a shared love for bold colour and statement pieces evolves into a symbolic wedding expressed through vibrant designs. The Artists Xchange uses art to engage with a period of rapid change, advocating for communities to be recognised as equal voices and guardians of their heritage.
