Turkana Sessions is a musical journey that explores the rich culture and striking landscapes of Turkana. The project brings together five artists: Jackson Nakuwa, Mourine Apuu, Jackson Ekori, and Elizabeth Korikel from Turkana, alongside Eddie Grey from Nairobi, to create a sound that fuses traditional musical heritage with soulful guitar influences, resulting in a fresh and authentic listening experience. It is the third project released under The Artists Xchange project, following The Flyest Wedding in Africa and Floating, Flying and is part of a broader interdisciplinary platform that unites artists across music, film, fashion, visual and video art to respond to regional issues. As a companion project to the 2023 documentary Turkana: Races for Resources, The Artists Xchange aims to shift narratives about Northern Kenya by highlighting its cultural depth, natural beauty, and the importance of treating local communities as equal partners in shaping the future of the region.
